How to localize across your different markets
Enabling the right structure for your markets and locales, helps to easily create the best localized digital experiences.

Introduction

In Uniform, several ways exist to structure working with markets and locales. For projects that have a shared sitemap structure that should be used across markets and locales, one of the first steps is to enable the desired structure in Uniform.

Understanding the building blocks

There are three important building blocks for enabling localization at scale:
  1. Locale groups allow you to create different market structures, e.g., markets can be regions, countries, etc.
  2. Locales are the specific locales within a market, e.g. English for the US market.
  3. Tags, enables you to easily do bulk operations, e.g. copying a text from one local to other locales.

Enabling markets

To enable the following structure in Uniform with Canada as a market and English and French as locales, consider the following steps:
Go to Canvas settings, navigate to the Locales section, click “Add locale group” and enter Canada.
You have now created the first market and can add locales to it. To do so, click on “Add locale” below the market.
Enter details for the locale, in this example we are creating the English version for Canada, once entered, click Accept.
Continue adding French locale, you should now see the following structure.
Once completed click “Save locales” and you are now ready to use your structure.
